What the role is

  • Description of Group:


The Rehabilitation and Protection Group (RPG) undertakes the statutory functions in the rehabilitation of adult and youth offenders, and the protection of children, families and vulnerable adults (VAs).

Our mission is to empower individuals and families to break cycles of abuse, neglect and offending.

We build socially-responsible individuals and strong and stable families by creating a safe and nurturing environment for children, young persons and families.

We protect and rehabilitate the abused and delinquent.

Description of Division/Branch:
The various out-of-home care options for vulnerable children in Singapore include placement in foster care or children's homes.

As part of the RPG family, the Children in Care Service (CIC) provides oversight to this sector and collaborates with partners to enhance essential services and capabilities to strengthen care options for these children.

Through these efforts, CIC aims to achieve positive outcomes for these children, helping them grow into productive members of society.

Our responsibility involves planning and overseeing the Children in Care sector, which delivers care services and support to children in need.


What you will be working on

  • Brief description of Job Scope:

As the incumbent, you will report to the Senior Manager / Manager, and play a pivotal part in the growth of the out-of-home care sector.

Your primary responsibility will be to collaborate with Voluntary Children's Homes (VCHs) in bolstering service standards and capabilities through partner engagement, operational guide development, work process improvement, and addressing challenges faced by the homes.


Responsibilities:


  • Engaging Children's Homes to ensure quality care to their residents.
  • Developing sector directions and operational guidelines for the Homes, and collaborating with partners and stakeholders to enhance their service standards.
  • Promoting best practices in residential care for children and young individuals by building capabilities and engaging with external partners and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in crisis situations.
  • The job typically entails working regular office hours but must be comfortable to working on evenings or weekends occasionally when required.

What we are looking for

  • Competencies required:
  • Possess a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or related disciplines, with a minimum of one year of experience in social services.
  • Exhibit strong analytical and problemsolving abilities, coupled with a capacity for conceptual thinking and multitasking.
  • Have a passion for collaborating with Social Service Agencies (SSAs) to make a positive difference in the lives of children and young people.
  • Be a team player who can thrive in a fastpaced setting while working independently.
