Overall Purpose of Role:

Responsible for both Newbuild and Repairs of Commercial and Naval vessels.
Ensure production processes are carried out effectively and productively to meet specifications and quality expectations of customers
Take charge of the Mechanical Department and oversee operational and technical work processes to ensure smooth execution and timely completion of projects

Responsibilities:

Evaluate and assess staff work performance under his charge as per required
Assess onboard or inworkshop work progress, verify against reported work progress
Planning of department manpower projections, highlights shortfall or spare resources
Identify training needs for subordinates
Manage departmental staff upgrading training and knowledge in shipbuilding
Attend to Works related meetings
Check and monitor of subcontractor deployments
Monitor Works adherence to SOP
Manage departmental improvement processes to improve quality of work
Implement divisional and departmental safety work plan
Perform safety audits on departmental safety practices and employees

Requirements:

Degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering
Possess minimum 5 years of relevant experience in both Newbuild and Repairs projects in marine sectors or shipyards
Confident in communicating and managing clients and other stakeholders
Resourceful and able to adapt to changes on short notice
Ability to continuously review current jobs and inject new ideas to improve work methods
Able to work under pressure
Possess leadership quality with managerial skills to manage large number employees and workers from subcons
Able to work on weekends according to project schedules
