Overall purpose of role


Reporting to the Global Head of BBPLC Resilience, the APAC Head of Resilience is responsible for working with the Business Unit/Regional Heads in APAC to develop, maintain and improve a business aligned, efficient and effective Resilience Programme, providing strategic advice to Senior Stakeholders; supporting and guiding the business area to construct and maintain well controlled, resilient processes.

The role holder will also report to the Head of Crisis Management (EMEA and Business Response Planning) for delivery of the crisis management programme across APAC, ensuring all crisis controls are adhered to and supporting senior regional stakeholders in crisis situations.

In addition, the role will also have accountability into the APAC COO or delegate.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support and deliver against the APAC business Resilience strategy, ensuring the establishment of effective governance to maintain the Resilience (including recovery).
  • Provide strategic direction and resilience guidance to all key APAC, Singapore and Australia stakeholders, including Senior Management (CEO, Business Heads and COO).
  • Ensure Resilience is appropriately owned within the APAC business and embedded as part of business planning, management and development.
  • Ensure the APAC business operates in such a way that ensures services to all stakeholders, clients and customers are not materially impacted during adverse events.
  • Oversee the Country Resilience Leads in APAC, providing leadership, guidance and support to the team.
  • Articulate APAC requirements and needs in global forums and serve as a voice for APAC region.
  • Act as a conduit for global information and developments to be conveyed to back to APAC stakeholders.
  • Conduct gap analysis for Resilience related regulatory requirements against Barclays Operational Recovery Planning Policy and Standards.
  • Adapt the global Operational Recovery Planning Policy and Standards for APAC locations, including supporting the APAC businesses to determine the applicability of global business impact assessment and intolerable harm assessment for APAC locations and documenting any nuances.
  • Support APAC Resilience governance, risk management and reporting, regulatory onsite inspections and reviews.
  • Run the Singapore recovery site maintenance, administration and recovery testing.
  • Ensure Resilience related BAU activities for APAC are run seamlessly, including New or Amended Produce requests, building power down events and data centres resiliency tests.
  • Assisting in ensuring all phases of the Incident and Crisis Management Standard are implemented as a consistent and consolidated set of processes which are exercised and reviewed on a regular basis.
  • Being involved in supporting Barclays, its constituent Divisions and Business Units to develop and maintain the elements necessary for a robust crisis management capability.
  • Ensuring the regional maintenance of the crisis management structure, plans and associated facilities employed in the management of a crisis. A
