What the role is

  • Youth Residential Service (YRS) is responsible for the rehabilitation, protection and reintegration of youth placed in secure care at the Singapore Boys' Home (SBH) and Singapore Girls' Home (SGH). The Homes are gazetted as a Juvenile Rehabilitation Centre for youth offenders dealt with by the Youth Court and as a Place of Safety for youths admitted on a Family Guidance Order, Care and Protection Order or under the Women's Charter.

What you will be working on

  • The jobholder's primary task is to ensure that Singapore Girls' Home maintains an adequate level of operations readiness to respond to any peacetime and national contingencies. It includes developing and reviewing the Home's contingency plans, planning, and conducting of contingency exercises at the Home.

The jobholder's secondary task is to assist in the development / review of new / existing ops related initiatives and practices specific to Singapore Girls' Home, including anchor projects for the unit; as well as render assistance to review peacetime SOPs for YRS.

The jobholder shall also assist to cover investigation of major /serious infringements (when tasked) involving both residents as well as staff when instructed by SAD, Ops and Security.


Your work includes the following:
a. Assist to develop and review contingency plans of Homes to respond to peacetime contingencies scenarios;
b. Assist in trainings, exercises and courses conducted by the unit to ensure its success;
c. Assist to plan, organize and coordinate the various levels of contingency exercises at the Singapore Girls' Home;
d. Assist with the issuance, and maintenance of tactical resources in Singapore Girls' Home;
e. Assist to identify tactical training needs specific to Singapore Girls' Home and incorporate the identified needs in the annual tactical training schedule;
f. Assists Business Continuity Management (BCM) Coordinator for YRS;
g. Assists in monitoring developmental projects at Singapore Girls' Home;
h. Assists to retrieve CCTV footages of Use of Force (UoF) incidents at Singapore Girl's Home to support the review of incidents;
i. Assists in tracking statistics of Incident Reports;
j. Assist in providing guidance to Ops practices and ensure compliance to YRSOs; and assist in the crafting/review of YRSOs as and when tasked (based on schedule); and
k. To perform any other work assigned by RO.


What we are looking for
- a. Competent in written and spoken English;
b. Possess good interpersonal and communication skills to engage internal and external stakeholders;
c. Ability to multi-task, work independently and be an effective team player; and
d. Possess good IT and computer-related skills e.g. Microsoft Words, Excel, Office, PowerPoint.
