What the role is

What you will be working on

  • You will be part of the Animal and Veterinary Programme Office (AVPO) team under the Professional and Scientific Services Division of AVS. You will be responsible for completing countrylevel assessments on animal health systems. You will also be involved in the assessments for regionalisation arrangements with trading partners for infectious diseases, working with government agencies of other countries on the review of their animal health systems, particularly the surveillance and control measures for animal diseases, and recognition of regionalization measures for specific diseases. You will be providing technical inputs for animal health assessments for audits conducted as part of establishing new sources of food animals and their products or companion animals. You will also be involved in risk assessments and horizon scanning for animal diseases of concern, the development and implementation of policy and legislation pertaining to animal health in Singapore, and the communications and engagement with stakeholders on the development and implementation of these policies (e.

Duties include:

  • Report writing for regionalisation assessments for animal health
  • Conducting assessment of animal health systems of trading partners
  • Tracking of reports and notifications of relevant diseases
  • Liaising with other government agencies and competent authorities of other countries for assessments
  • Data collection and research
  • Planning and organisation of communications and engagement sessions with stakeholders
  • Carrying out administrative process and other duties as required to ensure daily function of the branch
  • Conduct field investigations during disease outbreaks

What we are looking for

  • Degree in Veterinary Sciences, Biology, Life Sciences, Environmental Sciences or related fields
  • Relevant working experience in fields related to animal health would be advantageous
  • Highly motivated individual with passion for research would be an advantage
  • Team player with initiative, drive and good interpersonal/communication skills and able to work independently
  • Good IT e.g. sound applied knowledge of Microsoft office and data analytical skills would be an advantage
