What the role is

As a Student Welfare Officer (SWO), you will provide social support to studentsatrisk. You will also work with their families and other community partners to address barriers to learning and strengthen the safety net for these students.

What you will be working on

RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide studentcentric case work support for studentsatrisk and their families
Act as a mentor for studentsatrisk and empower them to make informed life choices
Visit homes to assess the needs of studentsatrisk and their families
Refer students' families to the relevant agencies to enhance their access to community resources and services
Collaborate with community agencies to mitigate issues for the studentsatrisk and their families
Work with the school's student support team on early identification, case management and proactive measures to avert the onset of atrisk behaviours among students
Monitor and manage statutory cases
Help to reintegrate students who have been absent from school

What we are looking for

REQUIREMENTS
Passion and disposition for working with studentsatrisk and their families, and a positive belief in their potential
Cultural sensitivity, collaborative and an openness to diverse views
Emotional stability, resourcefulness and resilience
Ability to manage complex and serious school absenteeism / statutory cases, as well as provide consultation to school leaders on such cases
Applicants should have the fitness and resilience required to engage students safely and carry out their duties effectively.
Preferably with at least 5 years of working experience. Casework experience in the social service sector, working with and supporting studentsatrisk and families would be an advantage.
