Job Description:


The Digital Editor is an essential member of the Digital team, ensuring that CNBC International's website outputs the highest quality and standards of Asian news stories, market updates, videos and features to engage CNBC's audience of investors, business leaders and industry stakeholders.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Curate the website by selecting the most relevant stories from wires and partners
  • Swiftly and accurately write breaking news headlines to send as push notifications when confirmed or verified
  • Edit developing news and longer, analytic pieces and features accurately, ensuring that written content is reliably sourced, clear, compelling and accessible to lay readers
  • Communicate timely and clearly with CNBC teams across countries and platforms, including TV, to ensure coordination of stories
  • Produce original CNBC stories and wire copy in the content management system
  • Assign work to other members of the APAC team and coordinate production to ensure the website is updated at all times
  • Deputize for senior editors when needed
  • Monitor and assess the performance of CNBC's digital content using analytics tools, and move and reposition stories accordingly

Qualifications:


  • Indepth knowledge of CNBC's editorial and programming priorities; a clear understanding and strong interest in financial markets, economics, technology and politics
  • Understanding of global economics and financial markets and how events in different economies and markets affect one another
  • Proven breaking news experience as editor or assignment editor for a leading wire service or business news organization, overseeing and making decisions about news coverage
  • Ability to do full and substantive edits under tight deadlines that may require reworking of leads and story angles, ensuring editorial balance, or restructuring content to make them sharper, more compelling and relevant for CNBC's readers
  • Proven ability and experience in writing write sharp, compelling headlines and copy edit/proofread, as well as quickly identify mistakes, errors and typos
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize a wide range of tasks under tight deadlines, while remaining calm and efficient in a fastpaced news environment
  • A collaborative team member who fosters positive and respectful relations with colleagues across all departments and locations, ensuring a smoothrunning website that is accurate
  • Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills; strong research and succinct writing skills
  • Demonstrated selfstarter, with the confidence to make decisions quickly in a fastpaced news environment
  • Knowledge of social media, especially Twitter
  • Fluency in English is essential, ability to speak at least one Asian language would be advantageous
  • Flexibility in working shifts, on weekends and/or public holidays
  • Experience using content management systems
