We are looking for a Senior Payments Counsel to support eBay's financial services activities in APAC.

The position, based in Singapore, is responsible for day-to-day support of eBay's financial services legal needs in the APAC region.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Advise on all regulatory issues associated with eBay providing payment services through its SG regulated payments entity
  • Counsel product and business teams on how to structure new financial products and services in a manner that complies with applicable regulations in SG and other relevant jurisdictions
  • Participate as a proactive business partner to senior managers and build a trusted advisor relationship
  • Keep uptodate on regulatory and policy developments involving financial services across APAC
  • Partner closely with the eBay financial services compliance team to ensure applicable compliance programs meet regulatory expectations
  • Actively collaborate with a wide variety of eBay teams, including engineering, product, and partnerships on a range of issues related to financial product development, production, and commercialization across APAC
  • Manage complaints and legal escalations in relation to services provided by its SG regulated payments entity
  • Where required, support eBay's expansion strategy and future licensing work across APAC
  • Assist with communications with the MAS or other regulators in APAC
  • Supervise counsel in Australia providing legal support for financial services in the AU market

Job Requirements:

  • Qualification to practice law in Singapore
  • 7+ years of experience as a qualified lawyer working on complex technology matters involving financial services, preferably working with fintech companies on the legal and regulatory aspects of product development
  • Prior experience engaging with the Monetary Authority of Singapore and advising on the Payment Services Act
  • Deep understanding of financial services products, especially payments products
  • Ability to operate independently while demonstrating good judgment on escalations and crossfunctional collaboration
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and a fastpaced culture, and a practical, solutionsoriented focus to solving legal challenges
  • Selfmotivated and selfdirected
  • Strong judgment and project management skills and someone who's always thinking about better ways of doing things
  • Possess and demonstrate shared leadership values and competencies courageous, driven, inventive, team player, coach, and communicator
