Description

Monitoring the industry landscape and distilling the right insights from media discourse, among others, are essential to RICE's work as a strategic communications consultancy.

Companies are interested in understanding how their product or service is being perceived by various stakeholders. They are also concerned with protecting their brand and public image against unfavourable publicity.

Increasingly, in today's digital news environment, companies also seek to anticipate and then ride on rapid shifts in public conversations on wider industry issues.


We are looking for a Research & Insights intern who is curious, has sharp analytical skills, and keen to understand how valuable data and insights can be, in shaping brand narratives.


Key responsibilities include:


Research & Insights

  • Supporting the design and execution of tailored research (e.g. on audiences, stakeholders, competitors, and channels), based on clients' requirements
  • Identifying relevant sources of information in a quick, resourceful manner
  • Conducting detailed analysis using appropriate quantitative and qualitative research techniques
  • Synthesising actionable insights by distilling complex observations and findings into relevant business intelligence
  • Putting together incisive research memos on topics, trends, and issues that add value to RICE's business development activities and formulation of proposals to client prospects

Media Monitoring & Analysis

  • Monitoring all print titles, radio, broadcast, online sites and social platforms that are relevant to our clients based on an agreed scope (local, regional and international) including via Meltwater, Factiva and other sources
  • Developing tailored reports and analyses for specific events and media campaigns, including analyses on shareofvoice and tonality, among others
  • Keeping abreast new techniques and tools for media monitoring & analysis

Key requirements include:


  • Strong grasp of research techniques across all forms qualitative, quantitative, desktop, field research; relevant studies, past internships in social science research, humancentric research, and/or design thinking methodology would be helpful
  • Excellent English verbal and writing skills
  • Natural curiosity and thirst for learning
  • Adaptability and agility especially in tackling complex client briefs
  • Skills in data processing and presentation of insights/research, including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Prior experience with media analytics tools like Meltwater, Factiva, Sysomos would be a bonus
  • A meticulous approach to work and an eye for detail
  • The ability to maintain highquality work while meeting tight deadlines, driven by a spirit of excellence
  • Positive attitude as a team player
