The Medical Science Liaison will provide expertise in scientific and innovative ensuring pioneering scientific insights and assessments. This individual will provide internal and external education, identify and work with Regional Key Opinion Leaders.

This role supports and represents the Leica Scientific Division and its products in Microsurgery and Ophthalmology with, KOL's, clinicians, academic institutions, and professional organizations globally.

As the clinical and medical authority on Leica's medical products, this role will build long term relationships and establishes rapport with clinicians in hospitals, clinics, and academic centers through highly scientific product and disease state discussions that support or expand current OR concepts and ensures safe and effective utilization of products.


This role has cross-functional responsibilities, which require partnering with various departments within the company with a focus on Upstream Marketing and R&D but also including Downstream Marketing Teams, RA/QA, Global Marketing, Regional Sales, Service, Operations/Manufacturing as well as other external partners or authorities.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

KOL Identification, Mapping, Segmentation

Identify and classify KOL to create a pipeline of clinicians that Leica can engage for upstream and downstream activities

  • Provide specific regional pipeline and update it on yearly basis with 10/15 KOL per specialty (Ophthalmology and Neurosurgery)

KOL Engagement:

Establish a detailed planning linked to BU strategic pillars and establish relationship with key KOLs

  • Create the yearly plan with upstream and downstream teams.
  • Propose activities to the organization to anticipate related needs and budgets.

HCP Training and Education:

Partner with regional, downstream and global marketing to design webinar and other initiatives meant to increase lead generation.


Congress and Scientific Associations:

Ensure Leica's Share of Voice is enhanced at all major regional congresses and scientific associations

Develop key activities such as webinars, symposium promoting Leica's brand

KOL Identification

  • Identify the right KOLs to support the different parts of our portfolio
  • Ensure KOL base is broad enough and goes beyond clinicians only by involving digital Experts, nurses and patient advocates as well
  • Map KOL's best suited for different activities speakers, advisors, guideline experts, HEOR specialists, educators and trainers
  • Builds, manages and develops the relationships with KOLs, is seen as the SPOC for KOL engagement activities at the regional level
  • Ensure Leica's Share of Voice is enhanced at all major regional congresses as well as within the key regional events by close interaction with local HCP/KOL managers
  • Provide KOL recommendations for symposia, wetlabs, "MeettheExperts", private views and other peertopeer activities of Leica ́s promotional agenda at congresses
  • Work closely with major scientific associations to understand engagement opportunities and ensure effective utilization of investments

REQUIREMENTS:


Professional Experience:


  • 7+ years of proven experience in Medical technology; Microsurgery and/or Ophthalmology are preferred or other Hightech industry (Product Portfolio Management, Business development, Marketing management, R&D)
  • Experience in interpreting scientific data and presenting research information to scientists and HCPs (Healthcare Professional)
  • Handson experience working with KOL's, clinicians, HCPs, and/or academic institutions establishing/maintaining relationships and scientific/medical credibility
  • Experience dealing with the local regulatory authorities
  • Strategic business planning
  • Healthcare Economics and Product Portfolio Management,

Education:


  • Degree in Medicine / Pharmacy or other human science
  • MBA is a strong plus

Travel (required estimated % of time):50% in JAPAC region
