Currently, more than 1800 students are learning at GESS supported by more than 400 full time and part time academic and administrative staff members.

In August 2018 GESS moved to Dairy Farm Road to a modern new school campus located at the edge of Singapore's largest nature reserve.


Primary School Student Support Teacher (EAL)

Start Date: 1 February 2023

Part-time to Full-time
***- The German European School Singapore (GESS) is looking for a

Student Support Teacher (EAL) for Primary School.

Responsibilities:

***Teaching in the Student Support department teaching English as an additional language (EAL):
  • Planning and teaching differentiated EAL lessons for designated students in Grades
  • 5 through the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP)
  • Supervising and teaching small groups within a whole class or small group setting to support student English language skill development
  • Working collaboratively with homeroom teachers to support individual students and deliver EAL in line with curriculum
  • Screening students using the WIDA to determine needs
  • Working collaboratively with the Student Support Team and reporting to the Head of Student Support
  • Assessing and reporting on student learning and progress as per school systems of documentation, including meeting with parents

Requirements:


  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • University degree; TESOL/ESL training and experience
  • Knowledge of and experience with IB-PYP a plus
  • Experience teaching children aged 5 to 1
  • Fluency in other languages a plus
  • Willingness and ability to learn and take direction
  • Flexibility, organisation skills and a caring attitude

Instructional Delivery: The applicant can use a variety of research based instructional strategies relevant to the content area to engage students in active learning, to promote key skills, and to meet individual learning needs.

Assessment for Learning: The applicant can effectively use differentiated assessment tools and strategies and understands how to make accommodations for individual students' needs.

Learning Environment: The applicant has a clear understanding of the importance of establishing routines and procedures and of providing, safe, supportive, student-centered environment. He/she involves families and other educators when needed.

Professionalism: The applicant is committed to professional ethics, international-mindedness, and the school's mission; collaborates and communicates appropriately; and takes responsibility for professional growth that results in the enhancement of student learning.
