Mission of the Department:
The Finance department in WWF Singapore is to provide donors, stakeholders, and business partners with sound financial and internal control and governance in alignment with the Singapore Charities Act, Financial Reporting Standards, and WWF policies.
We focus on efficient operating systems and processes, information, analysis, and business insights needed for informed decisions, and strong financial resources to support WWF's priority conservation activities in Singapore and the rest of the global network.
Major Functions:
Deliver timely and accurate financial information and business performance insights for the operations of fundraising and conservation activities of WWF Singapore.
Provide strategic financial planning, oversight of project expenditures and revenue, and cash management to maximise the efficient and effective use of funds.
Drive accountability, control and compliance, and risk awareness by a high-performing team of talented finance professionals based on trust and mutual support.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Management of 2 direct reports
- Oversee the daytoday operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger functions.
- Ensure timely monthly financial close including the generation of financial reports and schedules.
- Drive standardization of operational processes within the Finance Department
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all financial audits and tax filings, in compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements.
- Assist with annual budget preparation and monthly reforecast exercise
- Handle internal audits and implement recommended practices
- Ensure reporting compliance to applicable regulations and guidelines
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure a high level of productivity and professionalism.
- Stay updated on accounting best practices and regulatory changes that may impact the organization's financial operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field;
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles, fund accounting, and grant management a plus
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Good knowledge of IFRS and GST
- Experience in SAGE or other accounting systems e.g., SAP, Oracle would be an advantage
- Familiar with good internal control practices
- Excellent analytical, problemsolving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fastpaced environment.
- Experience in leading and developing a team of accounting professionals.
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of nonprofit organizations.
- Team player
- Able to prioritise and operate under tight deadlines
- Good communication skills, with spoken and written fluency in English
- An interest in conservation
