Sr. Network Engineer

The Opportunity

  • Design and implement both the physical and wireless networks of an organization, including LANs, WANs, network segments, and internet and intranet systems.
  • Maintain network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, troubleshooting network problems, and escalating problems to vendor.
  • Secure network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Report network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information and managing projects.
  • Upgrade data network equipment to the latest stable firmware releases.
  • Configure routing and switching equipment.
  • Provide remote support to onsite engineers and end users during installation.
  • Provide remote troubleshooting and faultfinding if issues occur upon initial installation.
  • Undertake capacity management and audit of IP addressing and hosted devices within data centers.
  • Liaise with project management teams, thirdline engineers and service desk engineers on a regular basis.

Your Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field.

With min 5 years to max 10 years of proven experience in a network engineer role
:


  • Handson experience in networking, routing, and switching.
  • Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure.
  • Experience with firewalls, internet VPN's remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
  • Ability to set up and configure server hardware.
  • Familiarity with backup and recovery software and methodologies.
  • Great at organizing, prioritizing and multitasking.
  • Juniper, Cisco, CWNA or BCNE training.
  • Professional certification (e.g. CCNP, CCDP) is a plus.
