Lead and perform compliance risk assessment for the purpose of developing a risk-based annual global compliance plan (which is quarterly reviewed) across the Group covering
a) Regulatory compliance focusing on namely anti-corruption, sanctions, AML/CFT)
b) Internal compliance (sanctions (to be in line with our financing covenants), third-party associates, conflict of interest, gifts & hospitality, donations & sponsorships)
c) Operating licenses, legal register, approvals, permits, filing or registrations which are necessary for the lawful and effective operation of the Group and its businesses.
d) Execution of the plan is not only for the purposes of compliance to the applicable regulatory requirements but also, ensure risks are adequately mitigated and adoption of best practices to protect our license to operate.

Critical to ensure continuous understanding of the global compliance landscape / country level development to support effective implementation of compliance plan.


  • On regulatory compliance plan, it should include development as well as review of policies and procedures (including harmonization across the Group), periodic spot checks to ensure continuous compliance, rolling out both facetoface training and facilitated workshops as well leveraging on group compliance elearning portal ("TRACE"). Championing the awareness over the regulatory compliance policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Administration and maintenance of TRACE in terms content development, rollout, user onboarding, helpdesk for Groupwide program deployment.
  • Administration and maintenance of Dow Jones Risk & Compliance system, Seasearcher Advanced Risk & Compliance system and IHS Seaweb required for Group wide sanctions screening compliance program.
  • Oversee the sanctions compliance team to ensure initial name screening for prospective counterparties and batch screening for existing counterparties of the Group are carried out in accordance with the Group's sanctions compliance policy and guidelines.
  • Work with stakeholders from Business Units and Corporate Functions as part of the overall compliance plan and a point of contact for compliance matters
  • The role will also be involved in Group ESG workstreams to ensure continuous compliance to the relevant policies and requirements.
  • Maintain our Group Compliance portal to ensure the contents are updated, proper learning and case studies are communicated as part of best practices sharing.
  • Support the overall enterprise risk management process by contributing input, result from compliance risk assessments, emerging trends in the global compliance landscape, and upcoming regulatory development / country level assessment.
  • Preparation of materials for senior management briefing and risk committee meetings, covering progress of the overall compliance program.


A minimum of 7 years relevant working experience (preferably a combination of working experience in both commercial organisation and professional firms).

Hands-on experience in performing compliance risk assessment, policy development and implementation in the area regulatory compliance areas covering anti-corruption and sanctions.

Relevant working exposure to maritime industry as well as emerging markets will be an advantage. Proven experience in rolling out compliance programs and championing ethical business standards. Exposure in ESG compliance will also be an advantage.


Education requirements:


  • Bachelor's Degree in any discipline, preferably with at least 6 years of relevant working experience
  • Relevant qualification or certification (through certificate courses) in compliance, risk and governance such as Certified Compliance & Ethics
  • Professional (CCEP), ACAMS Certified Global Sanctions Specialist Certification (CGSS), etc.
