A skilled professional and experienced marine superintendent with 8 years of shore-based experience in ship operation and maritime safety roles. Sound knowledge of marine industry standards and practices relevant to the oil/chemical tankers industry.
I’ve previously worked for Hong Lam marine where in addition to arranging vetting inspections I’ve also conducted training for deck officers as a Transas enlisted trainer for efficient use of ECDIS on ships and issued type-specific training certificates to officers. Annual budgeting, verification and approval of service requisition, assess and approval of deck equipment/item requisition were also a part of my job in Hong Lam Marine.
I joined VLK Traders (S) Pte. Ltd. in June 2017 as a Marine superintendent where I take care of CDI/SIRE inspections, pre-vetting, auditing (ISM/ISPS/MLC/Navigation/Mooring/Cargo), incident/accident investigation, root cause analysis and review of safety meeting reports from vessels, review of Master’s inspection reports and near-miss incident reports. I am also the ACSO for the vessels under my care and take care of the security matters of the vessels.
In addition to ensuring safe ship operation, I have worked together with regulatory agencies and oil major companies to constantly improve the safety and operational performance of company vessels.

Marine Safety Superintendent (VLK Traders Singapore Pte. Ltd.) Jun. 2017 – Continued
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining a safe, cost-effective, and environmentally sound operational standard in compliance with the company’s HSSEQ policy
- Promote vessels’ health, safety, and environmental compliance by encouraging and motivating the crew
- Review risk assessments and provide ships with relevant advice on safety, permit to work, and other HSSE matters

- Plan, coordinate and attend to vessels during dry-docking as required.
