Aliifah Ghassanii

I have been interested in horticulture after I worked as an intern at a nursery specializing in tropical ornamental plants. I was involved in various landscape practices including nursery and plant care management and ornamental plant production. To advance my skills and enhance my professional connections, I also participated in an international internship program arranged by CFAES, Ohio State University, and I was placed at a botanical garden in Long Island, New York. I received extensive training in ornamental horticulture practices including seasonal garden planting and displays, greenhouse production and garden maintenance.

After the program in the United States, I worked as a landscape horticulturist in Bandung, Indonesia. I was responsible for arranging monthly landscape management plans and leading several landscape projects for a year. After the project done, I have decided to take a gap year to prioritize my health and personal growth.

During my gap year, I engaged in a variety of activities that help me maintain my wellbeing including healthy eating habits, stress management, and regular exercise. I was also traveling abroad and exploring different career paths that helped me to develop a clearer sense of what I want to study and what path that I want to pursue. Overall, my gap year was an incredibly valuable experience that allowed me to gain new perspectives and gain a greater understanding of myself and my future goals. In conclusion, I want to continue my career in the field of landscape and horticulture.

In order to achieve those goals, I need to get back on track and develop more experiences in the horticulture industry. I am open to any work opportunities in this field.

Corporate Communication & Creative Assistant (April 2022 - December 2022)

• Assist Manager of Corporate communication to prepares and delivers presentations
• Draft and create creative designs for proposals, brochures and posters on each projects
• Work with creative and marketing officer to develop and curate contents for company outreach on online platforms
• Seek new methods and creative strategies to launch new products and special events 

Landscape Horticulturist (November 2019 - 2020)

• Responsible for supervising garden maintenance at residential areas
• Arranged monthly landscape management plan and operational procedures for gardening staff
• Provide monthly evaluation by doing a verbal presentation to clients regarding garden maintenance progress
• Supervised nursery production for plant stocks

• This was 12-months internship arranged by The Ohio State University
• Public botanical garden maintenance : planting, weeding, mulching, watering, pruning
• Greenhouse production for seasonal ornamental plants : Propagate plants by seeds and cuttings, transplanting, repotting, watering, and potting plants
• Work with a variety of woody plants, bulbs and roses
• Deliver customer service at spring market and garden events
