I love the unique role of being a Technical Communicator as it allows me to combine my technical background with my passion for writing to create documentation that is (hopefully) easy to digest.

Technical Communications Lead / Research Lead / API Product Manager | Ground Labs Pte. Ltd. | February 2018 – Present

• Developed new API documentation using OpenAPI definition (YAML) and rendered with ReDoc-CLI.
• Developed new ODBC Reporting documentation with extensive content including a Troubleshooting and Examples section.
• Developed new GLASS – a pattern matching language - documentation based on careful study of documentation best practices, feedback on existing product documentation, and user feedback on multiple iterations of the GLASS documentation. This includes the use of GIFs for instructional content, Using the Documentation section, intuitive navigation menu, along with real-world examples and use cases of GLASS.
• API Product Manager and internal Subject Matter Expert, responsible for defining and ensuring the proper implementation of all API feature requirements. Also responsible for providing solutions, developing scripts, and/or addressing questions from customers and/or partners regarding Ground Labs API.
• Stepped up as the (data type) Research Lead and took ownership of the research, development, and delivery of new sensitive PII data types.
• Conducted introductory training sessions on API and GLASS to boost customer success efforts.
• Initiated the implementation of SEO meta tags in the documentation pages to help improve SEO rankings and visibility.
• Migrated the software documentation for all products to Jekyll static site generator (SSG) to remove the dependency on paid software subscription and to speed up the learning curve for new hires.
• Proactively and continuously enhancing Ground Labs documentation, including:
  • adding a Summary of Changes to enable easy comparison between software releases,
  • adding breadcrumbs and sticky headers for a better navigation experience,
  • adding new API workflow examples after analysing customer support tickets, 
  • drawing up detailed Internal Notes for each product release to enable clear communication and sharing with other teams, and
  • restructuring existing content so users have more complete information in a single page.
• Continuously working on bridging the information gap between Engineering and other teams by creating new internal knowledge articles on configuration file settings, API script details, product implementation details, etc.
• Chaired the SDLC Workgroup to improve the existing SDLC processes across all functional teams. One key outcome from the workgroup was early involvement from the Technical Communications Team during the SDLC. This allowed for better understanding of product features, and enabled documentation to be completed within a few days after a code freeze. 
• Contributed to the development and/or improvements of the Business Continuity Planning (BCP), Information Security Policy (ISP), and End User License Agreement (EULA) documents.
