Celest Ong Yee Fei

I am Celest, a Year 2 undergraduate, currently pursuing the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), with Honours at the National University of Singapore Business School.

Since young, I am very interested in business and took up Principles of Accounting as my elective subject. My passion for business grows and I took up this diploma, which covers mostly on business-related modules, such as ‘Enterprise Solutions for Business’, ‘Financial Accounting’ and ‘Business Intelligence’, which sparked me to pursue on accounting and business analytics field. I am awed by the amount of assets can equal to the liabilities and equities in the Balance Sheet, through double entry. The sense of accomplishment of balancing these figures is very fulfilling.

In Republic Polytechnic, I am sponsored under the Infocomm Media Development Authority - Industry Preparation for Pre-graduate (iPREP) Programme. I utilized the knowledge equipped in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) courses to work on my industry and international project with the students from Suzhou University of Science and Technology (SUST), whereby I am exposed to object recognition using the machine learning model. This intrigued me to explore further in this field.

I had embarked on an e-overseas internship to work on an AI and Analytics on Pharmaceutical Dispensing project with the Japanese students from the National Institute of Technology (KOSEN), Nagano College and gained many invaluable experiences working on analytics to answer the business questions raised by the client. I am keen to learn on emerging areas - data analytics. To boost my understanding on analytics, I signed up for additional Machine Learning and AI course. I have also participated in the MonsoonSIM ERM Competition: Singapore Final 2019, where I gained experience in setting up a virtual business.

In my current course of study, I am reading specialization in Leadership & Human Capital Management, and Minor in Public Health. Through the enhancement in both technical and soft skills, I hope to equip myself with the latest skillsets and contribute back to society upon my graduation.
