Chua Meng Kiat

My name is Chua Meng Kiat (August), and I am a fresh graduate from Asia Pacific University (APU),which had completed Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Honours. I am very interested to embark my working journey in Singapore, especially related to electrical and electronic field. I am confident that, with my intangible skills and willing to learn spirit, I could not only gain a vast amount of knowledge and uplift my experience in one company, but at the same time, doing any possible contributions with any knowledge that I have in my course of studies.

WORKING EXPERIENCES
Asia Pacific University (APU), Engineering Technical Assistant
• Assists lecturer and student during lab sessions, such as guiding the students on how to handle the equipment to make sure safety and precautions are assured. 
• Constantly updating the condition of every laboratory equipment to the Supervisor. 
• Performs weekly circuitry checking and monthly maintenance towards the equipment in each laboratory. 
• Started on Sep 2018 and ended on March 2023.

Leisure Genius Sdn Bhd, Site Engineer Assistant (Intern)
• Assists the site engineer in all construction works. 
• Help managing the work operation on site by following to the instructions given by the site engineer when they are not around. 
• Helps communicating with the house owners regarding the updates of the project. 
• Started on Nov 2021 and ended on Mar 2022.

COMPETITIONS/PROJECTS/ACHIEVEMENTS
Electrical Power System Simulation Competition 2022 
• A competition that was organized by IEEE Power and Energy Society Malaysia Chapter (IEEE PES), in collaboration with CIRED Malaysia, annually. 
• Participants were required to solve practical electrical design in solar energy development system based on a large-scale solar project.
• It was a team competition and we had won the Best Report Award under the special award category.

Integrated Design Project Short Video Competition 2022 
• A competition that was organized by the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), in collaboration with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Malaysia (MOSTI). 
• We were required to make a 5-minute video that covered the entire course of our project, and our project was about a handy autonomous wheelchair. 
• It was a 4-men group competition and we won the First Prize Winner under Category: Electrical.

Handy Autonomous Wheelchair (Wheel My Chair) 
• A group project that was required to be completed under a module during the Degree. Our group proposed to design a autonomous wheelchair that was specifically used In hospital to reduce the workload of the healthcare workers, as well as easing the movement of the disabled patients. The group project was awarded with an excellent grade and was also brought to a competition organized by the IEM and MOSTI, and had won first prize.

Variable Input Voltage Single-Stage Isolated Bridgeless Boost Half-Bridge Ac-Dc Converter Research 
• A research work that was taken as my final year project, which involved further research towards a better topology of ac-dc converter. The research was done to determine the performance of the ac-dc converter with such topology in relation to the variation of input voltage, whereby at which input voltage would be the best for such topology could be known.
