Engracia Toh

I am a third year Environmental Science student in Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, with a specialization in Society and the Earth System. I am very interested in the sustainability and environmental sector and hope to pursue related jobs. Through my studies at NTU, I have learnt fundamental skills such as GIS, coding, research and scientific writing. Besides my knowledge of the sciences, I am a creative person who is well versed in art and design. 

I have worked in multiple industries as I wanted to broaden my worldview and gain experience from different fields. Recently (May - Jul 2022), I worked at a salon as an administrator where I coordinated schedules, communicated with customers, managed public relations, and did bookkeeping. I have also done an internship at Nature Society (Singapore) (May - Jul 2021) where I designed educational posters and slides to raise awareness on Singapore's biodiversity. Additionally, I worked as a private tutor (Jan 2019 - Dec 2021) where I taught math and science to primary and secondary school students. 

I am currently studying in Nanyang Technological University (NTU). My specialization in Society and the Earth System focuses on the relationship between humans and the environment. Hence, I have studied modules closely related to economics, business, and politics. I also have strong foundations in ecology and geoscience as these were taught in our first two years of study. I have also done research under NTU's year-long research programme (URECA), where I studied the urban heat island effect in NTU as a contribution to the school's campus assessment project.
