Justin Chai

I am currently a final-year student in NUS, pursuing a bachelor's degree (Hons) in Biomedical Engineering, with a 2nd major in Innovation and Design program. I enjoy working with my own 2 hands, especially to innovate and create new things from scratch to make an impact on the people around me and solve real-world problems.  I am passionate about cars and the automotive industry, hence I am seeking exposure to the industry to learn and develop myself, both technically and in soft skills.

I am a naturally creative thinker who can generate ideas for different situations. I am an effective leader who inspires others to work towards a common goal. My leadership style is to lead by example and help others to ensure that tasks are completed efficiently. Determination is also another one of my strengths, willing to step out of my comfort zone to improve myself and achieve success. My ability to generate ideas, leadership skills, and determination allow me to rally teammates to work on new and exciting ideas that will change the world and the company. Bringing ideas to life and creating a tangible outcome that helps others solve their problems brings a sense of fulfilment in me. I enjoy the design thinking process, especially prototyping and iterating, as I get to create something with my own 2 hands from an idea that was in my head, and then further work on what was created to improve it. 
However, I can also be over-eager and impatient at times as I always strive to achieve the optimum result in the shortest time possible. Knowing my shortcomings, I am working towards appreciating greater long-term success. Limited work experience is another one of my weaknesses. Despite the lack of multiple work experiences, I am a quick learner and willing to explore outside of my comfort zone. The limited opportunity has also shaped my mindset to seize and treasure every opportunity, give my best and achieve success as well as develop myself.

• Automated data workflows using Power Automate and Microsoft Scripts, and developed interactive Power BI dashboards, streamlining data flow and reporting, saving 50% of operational time. 

• Automated report generation and data cleaning in JMP to improve the team’s efficiency. 

• Designed and developed a new facial image detection and analysis capability for a new eye project using ImageJ, automating the process through scripting for faster and consistent results.
