Kinnard Chen

As someone who is innately curious and open to new experiences, I explored numerous tracks in the field of psychology, ranging from publishing academic research in a peer-reviewed journal to first-hand interactions with clinical clients as a mental health triager!

Throughout my career, I have had the immense privilege of receiving training and clinical supervision in a wide range of psychological skills including case conceptualization, youth engagement skills, dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) skills, and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) coaching. My client engagement experiences involved working closely with youth facing adversities, teaching them effective coping strategies using DBT skills. I also collaborated with caregivers and stakeholders to provide holistic support for youths and their families. Additionally, I have planned and facilitated group psychotherapy sessions, and employed motivational interviewing techniques to enhance individuals' motivation to seek help for OCD. 

Conducting mental health triages has been a significant part of my responsibilities, involving assessments of potential clients and stakeholder consultations to determine their needs and the suitability of our organization's services. I have acquired valuable experience in mental health triage during my tenure as an intern and currently as a volunteer at Clarity Singapore. 

I graduated from Nanyang Technological University with a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Psychology, Honours (Highest Distinction).
