About Marcus Ng:

My education back background,

I studied in Ngee Ann Polytechnic (2014 to 2017) for 3 years for the Diploma in Aerospace Technology. Subsequently, I studied at Air Transport Training College for 2 years for the Foundation Degree in Aerospace Technology. I recently completed my degree in London under Kingston University in Bachelor in Aerospace Technology, however I am still awaiting for my results.

Experience

My working carrier;

I have done internships in Singapore Airline (October 2013 to March 2014) and attached to Ground Support Equipment/ heavy maintenance and also General Electric.

In SIAEC, I assisted to keep track of tools in the tool store to ensure that all tools is accounted for. I also was given the opportunity to remove the fuselage panels on the A380 during my internship

In General Electric (March 2016 to August 2016), I was appointed to source for tools for the welders such as diamond grinding disk, pin vice , and magnifying plate to ensure the welders can have a better vision during welding. I also assisted to take photos of scrap blades for recording purposes and changing of the notice board processes. I also assisted in packing incoming blades to the boxes, so that the blades can be inspected for serviceability.

Education

For the Individual project in Kingston university, I did a project to achieve higher operating temperatures in  the inlet turbine section where the temperature is the hottest. The objective is to allow the engine component to achieve a high operating temperature of 1500 degree Celsius. By elevating the temperature of the inlet gas, the temperature of the engine will fluctuate with power and efficency. Currently, the YSZ Thermal barrier coating and nickel based super alloy have a maximum operating temperature of 1300 degree celsius.

To do so,  I form the synthesis of lanthanum silicate by mixing lanthanum oxide and silicate at a ratio of 1:2. After mixing to a slurry, the coating will be placed on the substrate material of CMC, which is material used to substitute nickel based super alloy.

It is subsequently placed into the furnace at 10 degrees per minute to 1200 degree celsius. The reaction bonding is formed between lanthanum oxide and silicate matrix to create an Environmental Barrier Coating (EBC) by heat treatment. Afterwhich, I used the XRD and SEM analysis to determine the coating results for the EBC coating.
