About Mathilda Kai:

Hardworking and enthusiastic National University of Singapore Undergraduate working towards a B.S. (Hons) in Biomedical Engineering, with a Minor in Public Health. My interest lies in Cardiovascular Science and my goal for the future is to specialize in that aspect as a healthcare worker.

My strength lies in being Detail-Oriented, having Effective Communication, and having a Strong Work Ethic. I am seeking to use my superior knowledge of Biology, Coding and Design software to effectively serve your company in an internship position. Dedicated and committed, I will be a dependable and valuable team member.

I have years of experience leading a class, CCA group, and volunteer teams as an Executive Committee member. Previously, I participated in Fuel Asia (by Futurize) virtual Hackathon, where I collaborated with peers and an experienced mentor to develop innovative solutions to increase access to healthcare and early-detect non-communicable diseases (NCDs). 

Currently, I am organizing NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine's Medical Grand Challenge 23 as a Programs, Operations and Logistics member, alongside a team of highly-driven individuals with a common goal of spearheading new Medical Innovations.

    - Inviting speakers and overseeing programme flow

Project Kamleang (precursor to a larger Rotary Global Grant) (Oct 2021 - Aug 2022) 

Co-Director 

  • Project Kamleang is an OCIP project that aims to empower girls in Siem Reap, Cambodia to protect themselves from sex trafficking by focusing on educating Medical Poverty. Our job is to impart critical vocational skills such as English literacy, and first aid to allow Cambodian girls to pursue education and seek employment without falling prey to traffickers. 
  • As a Vice Project Director, I work closely with the other 2 Project Directors to guide a team of 25 volunteers to specifically curate educational content and plan 10 weekly sessions of interaction with the local girls. I
  •  am in charge of the Education and Logistics Department and I assist in the communication with a local facilitator, Angkor Hospital for Children and Build Bright University in Siam Reap and Phnom Penh, Cambodia respectively to transport and purchase both medical and feminine necessities for the girls. 
  • In the process, I have also attended basic conversational Khmer lessons to communicate more effectively with the locals. 

SAJC Overseas Service Learning Project (Chiangmai, Thailand) (May 2019 - Dec 2019)

  • OSLP is an extension of the College’s Servant Leadership training program. 
  • During the months of preparation prior to the trip, my team and I worked together to understand the social conditions of the host community so as to better serve and learn from them. 
  • As part of the publicity committee, I was in charge of organising and promoting donation drives to the school for us to pass to the locals. 
  • My team and I collaborated to produce a video montage of our team's journey from the preparation phase to the trip itself.
  • Involved in the creation of an article uploaded onto our College's publications (IOTA), which elaborated on the interesting events that happened during the trip and the values that we all learnt from it.  
  • Pre-recorded a virtual presentation of our trip for the JC1s and JC2s which was aired on International Friendship Day.
