About Metharul Shri:
I am currently a LLB Law undergraduate student at the University of Birmingham. I am actively looking for Internships back in Singapore to broaden my horizons and gain more experience within the workforce. I am looking for an internship opportunity that will challenge and strengthen my abilities. I am excited to learn, demonstrate my abilities, and network with others to be able to excel and prosper in my future career in Law.
I am highly motivated, willing to put in the work and effort necessary to complete my tasks, and will be dedicated to bringing my best at everything I do. My strengths include communication skills, organization, leadership, and building interpersonal relationships. I am able to bring forth my experience of living in third-world countries, a daughter of a diplomat, and an International student to be able to be someone who is engaging to work with and will bring forth a multitude of perspectives.
One of the things I am most passionate about is Chess. I have been playing Chess competitively, and as a hobby since I was six years old. I pursued this passion and competed in State, National, and international competitions for four years until I attained my FIDE Rating.
Chess has helped me develop many skills which I believe will help me in the Law field. I can be a forward thinker, plan, and be decisive and in charge of any decisions to be made. I believe this is a significant skill set to have when being a player in the field of Law.
Model United Nations
Model United Nations (MUN) gave me the opportunity to travel to places such as Bali and Qatar to take part and portray my debate skills. I was able to learn how to work with different nations, build compatible plans, and be able to benefit my own state in a positive manner.
MUN was where I developed my passion for law and decided to pursue it further with an Undergraduate degree.
I have also worked various part-time jobs within Food and Beverage services, sales, and the Healthcare sector during COVID. These jobs helped me learn how to connect and form relationships with people from all walks of life and be able to relate and develop a passion for helping those in need.
Volunteering alongside many different organizations has always been a very big part of my life. Welfare for Stray Dogs, Habitat for Humanity, and different public hospitals within Mumbai have been a few of the types of volunteering work I have done. These opportunities, it has helped me to be more open-minded and encourages me to network and make new connections, as well as have opened me up to all types of experiences.
This allows me to be a reliable, resourceful, and engaging person to work with.
