Hi, I am a final year student at Nanyang Business School pursuing a double degree programme in Accountancy and Business (Banking and Finance).

During my internship in OCBC’s Global Markets team, I was given the opportunity to work with the Equity, FX and Fixed Income Investment Solutions desks. It was a valuable experience as I was exposed to the different asset classes. Firstly, working with the equity desk has provided me insights on how to create investment content for clients to better understand the underlying shares in the structured products. Especially with the current volatile market, it pushes me to keep up with the pertinent issues around the world. Specifically, I tracked the success rates of equity linked structured products for relationship managers to pitch to accredited investors. Secondly, I have learnt how to conduct technical analysis using Bloomberg to track the support and resistance levels of currencies in order to forecast the success rate of proposed dual currency instruments. Lastly, working with the Fixed Income desk was also insightful. During the internship, I automated an excel file to efficiently track clients’ bond trades that are maturing soon, using Excel Macros and pivot tables. This increased the percentage of clients who decided to roll over their trades.
