About Nicole Mok:
I am a final year student at Singapore Management University. I will graduate from SMU end December this year with a Bachelor of Accountancy with a second major in financial forensics. Through 2 audits internships, I have helped my seniors with analysing voluminous data, transactions and journal entries in the audit process of SGX listed companies as well as IPC charities. Approaching the documents provided by the audit clients with a critical and clear mind and documenting the audit processes meticulously is important in ensuring that their financial statements reflect the company's position fairly. I have developed a keen interest in financial crime and have taken classes to gain more knowledge about the investigation process as well as criminal penalties and laws in Singapore. This upcoming summer, I will be pursuing a forensic internship to gain more knowledge on the processes undertaken to deter and detect white collar crimes. Upon graduation in December 2023, I hope to join a meaningful career in the Commercial Affairs Department in keeping Singapore safe from white collar crimes, which is especially important since Singapore is a financial hub. I believe I have a good base in accounting controls and analysis of financial information due to my background in audit. At the same time, I am able to work well under pressure, work collaboratively with team members and learn quickly on the job. I am also determined to pick up analytical and technical skills that can aid in the investigation process, in the last year, I have picked up Tableau and SQL which I believe are very useful analytical softwares.
