About StAROfLiGht CY:

To tell you more about myself, I am a data visualization specialist currently working in a finance industry (DBS Bank). In DBS Bank, I create dashboards for management and stakeholders to report financial figures so as better understand and evaluate the performance of the company. For instance, one of the dashboards I have created is the wealth dashboard, to analyse the wealth sector in DBS. The process would usually start by understanding the stakeholders requirements , before engineering the data in python and placing into Tableau to create the visualization. From the dashboards created we can identify top performing sectors within the various countries, with the ability to drill down to find out the reasons why (to the product/user/currency pair levels). We can also identify product/ccypairs/users that are top performing, improving, deproving or underperforming to give insights to stakeholders to action upon. Besides the wealth consumer banking sector, we also work closely with the treasure and markets sector (TnM) to build dashboards that provide insights and reporing purposes for management as well (for CEO Review). Similarly, we have to analyse the country, product, customer segments, users and currency pairs to identify trends as well as anolmalies. I would give presentations to key stakeholders through Tableau as well as create power point slides as and when needed. The main softwares I use are Tableau/TableauPrep/Server, SQL (as and when needed) and Python ( a little).

Data Visualisation Specialist

Data analyst visualization specialist that builds dashboards for stakeholders to analyse the performance of the company. Provide analytical insights and business intelligence to the various stakeholders in terms of which sector/country/product/currencies are better or worse performing. Identifying trends and analomies to help stakeholders provide valuable feedback to the traders.

  • Wealth and T&M Sales Performance Dashboard ( Contains around 15-20 dashboards of sales performance dashboards (overview, country, product, customer segment, user segment, new wins )
    • Purpose of these dashboards are the analyse the performance of DBS’s Wealth and TnM sectors 
    • Overview Dashboards – Incalcates key snapshots of important information that represents the performance of the company as a whole.
    • Country Dashboards – Drills down into the performance of each of the individual countries to understand their performance
    • Product Dashboards – Idenitfy top performing products/poor performing products
    • Customer Segment Dashboards – Analyse the sectors within countries
    • User Segment Dashboards – Idenitfy top performers/improvers/decliners/underperformers
    • New wins Dashboard – Identify and analyse new wins that happen recently
  • Data Wall dashboards (T&M Overview Sales, FXD, EQD, HR, IRS, CRT)
    • T&M Overview Sales – Overview sales performance for the T&M department
    • FXD – Analysing FXD ‘s performance in terms of volume/number of trades for the various countries, customer segments as well as currencies.
    • EQD – Analyse top performing equities/stocks/markets/product/currencies in the various segment/countries
    • HR – Understand the diversity of the population (age, gender of the employees in the various countries
    • IRS – Analyse the new product launch interest rate swaps (errors, segment, tenor and users)
    • CRT – Credit Risk Dashboard – Understand the sales of the credit risk trading department in terms of segment, country, currencies
  • FXPA (User interaction) Dashboard
    • To understand click stream data and help management to understand which sector is performing better/worse
    • Come out with insights to improve the UI/UX design and help users use the platform better
    • Monitor the usage of the platform
  • Management Report Dashboards (PSC, PGB, CEO Review, Product Overview Dashboards)
    • Creating dashboards for management reporting purposes. Dashboards include sales performance for department as well as the company as a whole.
    • PSC, PGB, CEO Review are overview management reporting dashboards to showcase the performance of the bank as a whole
    • Product Overview Dashboards are overview management reporting dashboards to showcase the performance of the bank’s products in terms of volume, profit, transaction count, user count and customer count.

Regional Data Analyst Associate

Design, build and enhance visual analytics assets to ensure the continued relevance and usage of the dashboards for stakeholders to provide business intelligence, data visualization and advanced analytics support. Help automate refreshment of extracts to provide scalability and reusability of dashboards. Support ad-hoc requests from business users by querying from sql. 

  • Marketing Analytics Dashboard (Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin in Tableau dashboard)
    • Gathering 300 excel sheets from all social media , Put in Tableau Prep for data manipulation, final presenting in Tableau dashboard for insights. Analyse which BU has the most effective marketing campaign, which region has the highest reach/impressions/engagement, which post has garnered the most impression/reach/engagement
  • Website Analytics Dashboard (Data studio of Maha Chemical’s Website and Chem On Ecommerce platform dashboards)
    • Used Google analytics to track website performance and gather data. Placed data in data studio for analyse and insights (Where does most of our traffic come from, demographics of traffic, which landing page has the most views/clicks, which article has the most impact)
  • HR Analytics Dashboard (Employee and Company’s HR performance)
    • Gather excel sheets from company’s system and put in tableau dashboard for data manipulation. Placed in tableau dashboard for insights (Analyse company’s employee demographics as a whole. Which department has the most number of employees, proportion of part-time full time staff) Employee level dashboard has data of all the employee in maha (age, gender, picture, qualification, salary, bonus, kor)
  • Sales Performance Dashboard (Sales performance analytics on sales people, business units, country level on tableau dashboard)
    • Gather data from SAP (Queryed from SQL, then placed in tableau prep for data manipulation and dashboarding in tableau. Every business unit has a dashboard (4 business units in total) Analyse and insights: Actual sales VS budgeted sales, percentage of the budget achieved (yearly and monthly), YTD sales and profit prior and current year, sales employee ranking on sales and profit performance, included blanket sales order data as well as CRM data. Working closely with stakeholders to ensure the use of data as a strategic asset.
  • Business Units Dashboard on Sales Performance (LS, ST, EM and IS in Tableau)
  • Adhoc Data Requests for all departments
    • Query data using SQL to provide stakeholders so as to help them in their daily strategic and operational business decisions.
  • SQL query stored procedures (Landed cost, Sales, Profit)
    • Create stored procedures in sql that needs to be use on a monthly basis. Example: Landed cost of items needs to be reviewed monthly.
  • Machine learning pricing strategy in R (Multiple linear regression model)
    • Queried data from SAP using SQL, placed in R for data manipulation and analyse. Landed cost and quantity found to be a huge factor in determining the price of an item.
