Wei Jie Lim

I graduated from Singapore Management University (SMU) with a Bachelor of Accountancy (Second Major in Accounting Data and Analytics) in 2020. I also completed a semester exchange at Hanyang University in South Korea, where I majored in Business Administration, and took on rather challenging courses such as Financial Econometrics, Financial Engineering and Management Information Systems. 

In my continuous strive for self-improvement and knowledge, I am currently completing my Master’s of IT in Business with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence at SMU which is expected to end in November 2023. In addition to my academic studies, I have also gained valuable experience through my internships and freelance work.

• Built a Proof-of-Concept using Milvus Vector Databases which allows users to input text / image to extract specific frame / moments / surveillance videos via multi-modal models (Contrastive Language Image Pretraining, UCF Crime Anomaly Video Detection, Multiple-instance Learning, InternVideo: A foundational Video Model) and ranking it via its similarity scores to return the top-k results
• Investigating how reinforcement learning can improve workload-agnostic data placement to prevent asymmetric bit rot on Seagate’s state of the art Heat-Assisted-Magnetic-Recording (HAMR) Hard Disks. (SIBYL: Adaptive and Extensible Data
Placement in Hybrid Storage Systems using online reinforcement learning)
• Tinkering with StreamDFP, an online stream mining methodology, that allows for dynamic and a more generalized method of failure detection of hard disks
