Our client is a leading technology company specializing in payments, finance, and technology.

They have expanded their operations to Europe, the United States, and the United Kingdom from their initial base in Asia, making them the world's biggest mobile and online payments platform.


They are looking to hire a Privacy lawyer at the director level to support the organization's businesses by ensuring compliance with global and local privacy and data protection laws, with a particular emphasis on regulatory compliance.


Role & Responsibilities:

  • Assess proposed regulations and legislation related to privacy, data security, and comparable technology topics.
Interpret legal and regulatory requirements, including licensing provisions, and convert them into feasible privacy requirements.

Stay up to date with emerging public policy concerns involving privacy and provide guidance in accordance with new developments.


Assist in overseeing the privacy and data protection compliance function for the group's worldwide operations, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Develop and maintain connections with relevant government agencies, regulatory authorities, and other public organizations on a global scale.


Assist in expanding the company's business and developing new products and services, promoting the growth of information products and solutions.


  • A qualified commonlaw lawyer with at least 12 PQE, ideally gained from a mix of top international law firm experience and a senior privacy specialist role in a recognized MNC in the last five years.
Thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements and legislation related to data privacy.


Well-informed about the BCR framework (Binding Corporate Rules) and its associated regulations and procedures, as well as familiarity with Privacy by Design and Privacy Engineering principles and practices, which would be highly advantageous.


Strong business acumen with excellent communication skills to connect with others, and prior experience collaborating with colleagues from non-legal or compliance functions.

Effective communication skills in both English and Mandarin, are necessary to communicate with counterparts globally and in Mainland China.
