    Key Accountabilities


    Location: Tuas

    As part of the R&D team for Fouling Control coatings, the Technologist shall support in the development of new test methods as well as improvement of current test method on the performance of Fouling Control coatings


    • Developing new test methods to understand the performance of Fouling Control coatings (Antifouling and Foul Release coating)

    • Identify solutions to fulfil the gaps in current test methods by gathering ideas to develop existing or new designs and test methods

    • Understand engineering design of new equipment or process and provide effective communication and liaison with others within the team in Akzonobel and 3rd party and contractors

    • Understands external customer requirements for the Fouling Control coating, asks questions to clarify where required

    • Identify risks and barriers and propose recommendation to successfully implement the new or improved test method

    • Looks for and implements testing to support existing products and processes

    • Identifies improvement needs and suggests improvement activities/projects. Supports roll-out of improvement solutions

    • Design of experiments and coordinates with the team to carry out the experiment

    • Effectively collates and interprets results, effectively analyses data and patterns and proposes conclusions and recommendations within agreed timescales using appropriate methods. Explains technical concepts in a way that technical team understands its value

    • Plan, conduct and evaluate larger scale trials (e.g. field testing on raft)

    • Responsible for preparation of lab experiment reports and procedures of relevant process

    • Identify and support digitalization and automation activities of processes

    • Demonstrate an understanding of intellectual property of the test methods developed

    • Maintains a safe working environment e.g. member of 5S team, supports H&S engagement audits, supporting BBS processes.

    Experience



    • Bachelor's/ Master's Degree in Mechanical, Materials, Chemical Engineering or any relevant

    • 3-5 years of relevant experience as design, application engineer or in any relevant field

    • Experience in technology or product development projects, particularly in paint testing.

    • Able to understand 3D drawings a plus

    • Good practical, analytical and laboratory skills. Working knowledge in design of experiments is an advantage.

    • Good interpersonal skills.
