Role Purpose
The Strategy & Investments (S&I) team supports the data driven approach to business decision making. One of the key focuses is to provide in-depth research covering the macro and micro environment. Apart from research, the team's other key objectives include business partnering, corporate development, financial modelling, and investment review.
The S&I manager is responsible for the engagement with the various business units to develop business partnering workstreams and managing the team to support these requests.
Apart from ad-hoc projects, the role will provide support to the CCO which includes day-to-day activities like board meetings and the preparation of the board papers.
Role Accountabilities
Strategic Development and Business Partnering
- Engage various business units and departments to support various business activities.
- Work with various business units to develop commercially actionable intelligence.
- Uncover cross business unit and department synergies. Support CCO in various activities.
- Conduct research (equity, market, competitor) to support business development projects and company strategy.
- Develop micro and macro market analysis. Develop various business and market intelligence reports.
- Prepare material (board papers, board pack) for board meetings.
- Preparation of commercial tenders and pitch decks. Develop customer presentation decks.
- Financial modelling, for e.g. sale and leaseback, sale and purchase transactions and newbuildings. Support business units in strategic develop, target identification and valuation analysis.
- Make every effort to be aware of and understand your role in the event of a crisis.
- Make every effort to attend any relevant training, simulations and or meetings relating to Crisis Management.
- Perform your role as best as possible in a calm and collaborative manner in line with the relevant policy and procedures in the event of a Crisis. Provide input and feedback towards the ongoing improvement of the Crisis Management framework and procedure.
- Take responsibility for the safety of myself and those around me by displaying safety leadership principles (i.e. Safety I's & Accountability ladder).
- Challenging and stopping unsafe acts and behaviours or unsafe conditions. Comply with the Global Safety Standards, Policies and Operating Procedures.
Key Qualifications & Skills
- Degree in Business or Accounting.
- Previous experience in the Shipping industry is preferred.
- Previous experience with financial modelling and valuation is preferred.
- Proficient in research and analysis tools (Power BI, Power Query, Excel including VBA, PowerPoint, SQL).
- Proficient in research and business intelligence including preparation of information and presentation decks.
- Strong internal and external stakeholder management.
- Previous experience with investment review and development of business case is a plus.
