    Amazon Web Services provides a highly reliable, scalable, low-cost infrastructure platform in the cloud that powers hundreds of thousands of businesses in 190 countries around the world. The AWS Cloud infrastructure is built around Regions and Availability Zones (AZs). AWS Regions provide multiple, physically separated and isolated Availability Zones which are connected with low latency, high throughput, and highly redundant networking. These Availability Zones offer AWS customers an easier and more effective way to design and operate applications and databases, making them more highly available, fault tolerant, and scalable than traditional single datacenter infrastructures or multi-datacenter infrastructures.     Amazon Web Services is looking for a highly motivated, commercially savvy Network Infrastructure Business and Vendor Developer to help grow and scale one of the world's largest and most complex networks. We develop new and innovative ways to scale and expand our network, while delivering operational excellence to our stakeholders. This opportunity sits within our Metro Solutions organization where the team is responsible for developing and acquiring the network that drives Amazon's internal infrastructure as well as connecting Amazon to the outside world. The Network Business developer will have deep market and industry knowledge in telecommunications; experienced with vendor negotiations, networking technology, business case development and robust financial analysis skills.

    This individual will actively drive commercial vendor strategy, working with existing vendors, new vendors, as well as the AWS service teams and internal customers to build and design a portfolio of network infrastructure solutions. This role requires collaboration, driving strategic initiatives and executing commercial deals across the AWS network geography. By applying a unique blend of business and technology experience, you will work closely with both outside partners and internal teams to find creative, cost effective, and often innovative solutions to meet Amazon's ongoing growth and expansion needs worldwide.

    Key job responsibilities
    • Serve as a key member of the APAC Network Development team with a focus on the India market and other selected markets in APAC, helping to drive overall Network Infrastructure strategy.
    • Work closely with service owners to understand product roadmaps and devise programs to meet capacity requirements.
    • Develop network infrastructure plans for approval by internal customers and stakeholders.
    • Identify vendors and develop commercial solutions that solve for dark fiber and other network infrastructure capacity.
    • Conduct comprehensive telecom site analysis to deliver optimal network infrastructure solutions to partner site acquisition team.
    • Negotiate key vendor contracts from a business and technical perspective in partnership with AWS legal teams.
    • Manage contract lifecycle and negotiate renewals to optimize costs and maintain compliant vendor relationships.
    • Track and maintain information on overall telecom market segment trends and developments in terms of vendor technologies, coverage, cost and deal structures.
    • Work closely with finance partners, collaborating on budget creation, business case development, deal analysis, and supplier invoicing.
    • Participate in strategic network topology planning for our metro networks.
    • Work closely with network planning to ensure that acquisitions meet our topology requirements and budgets.
    • Anticipate bottlenecks, manage risk and escalations, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints.
    • Willing to travel 30% of time (Predominantly to India and selected countries).

    Basic Qualifications
    • Experience in solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits), or experience communicating results to senior leadership
    • 3+ years' experience in India's telecom sector, with proven track record in vendor management, dark fiber/managed waves procurement, commercial and contract negotiations, and network solution development
    • International telecom market experience required in at least one market outside India, with demonstrated ability to navigate regional regulations, market dynamics, and drive business development initiatives
    • Expert knowledge in layer 1 network design and telecom construction in APAC market, including fiber route planning, OSP/ISP infrastructure design, and implementation oversight
    • Expert knowledge of optical network systems, DWDM technology, fiber characterization, network maintenance protocols, and troubleshooting methodologies

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience working in a network planning, network construction/implementation, or commercial implementation role at an ISP, telecoms operator, or Hyperscaler
    • Experience with automation and any version control tools, or experience in software development
    • Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals such as BGP, OSPF and other R&S technologies
    • Demonstrated success in managing fiber optic network deployment projects, including infrastructure planning, execution oversight, and coordination with multiple stakeholders
    • Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools for network planning and route optimization
