Job Description:

The Lead Reliability Engineer will ensure effective and efficient service contract operation, principally through providing engineering and reliability support with the objective of improving overall equipment reliability, availability and capability.

The person is responsible for managing and driving all Performance Plus contract related tasks and day to day activities based at assigned customer site.

He will also guide other Reliability Engineers at JC.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand contractual requirements with respect to reliability, inventory management, and service delivery and implement plans to meet the requirements.
  • Be first point of customer contact for all mechanical seal needs and also provide out of hours service and support, where necessary.
  • Be an interface between customer and JC organisation and coordinate with appropriate internal departments to deliver suitable outcomes for customer
  • Be responsible for reliability data management, trending, analysis and reporting. Prepare monthly and yearly reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct site tours, identify preventive activities and implement recommendations proactively to eliminate potential causes of seal failures.
  • Manage Condition Based Maintenance program for customer, collect and analyse vibration data. Liase with local and regional team for analysis and advanced diagnostics.
  • Gain understanding of systematic and chronic failures and develop plan accordingly to eliminate root cause of failures.
  • Perform root cause analysis, failure mode assessment, recommendations and reporting.
  • Maintain the equipment & seal database and failure history using John Crane Interface Reliability Management software for all equipment within the scope of the contract.
  • Understand customers' needs, Review installations, make engineering proposals to optimise arrangements, quantify benefits, prepare and present proposals.
  • Handle stock profile management, rationalization and cost control, including vendor/3rd party management and coordination.
  • Conduct internal and external training needs analysis, develop training plans and Provide training to client and company personnel on various topics relating to operation, maintenance, selection and specification of rotating equipment and mechanical seals
  • To be present during equipment overhaul and commissioning where applicable, providing detailed subsequent analysis, assessments and recommendations.
  • Other duties as assigned by Reliability Manager / Site leader.
Reporting and Working Relationships

  • Operationally Reports to Reliability Manager
  • Functionally reports to Regional Reliability Director
  • Working closely with the Internal Sales and Service Team
  • Guides, helps Reliability Engineers

The Individual

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with minimum of 13 years relevant experience.
  • Should possess Vibration Technology II certification.
  • Good technical knowledge and experience in commissioning/ servicing of API pumps or mech. seals in the O&G/Petrochemical environment
  • Working knowledge of process plant operations and maintenance is desired
  • Project Management skills, including effective and professional Customer interface handling
  • Engineering knowledge in a proactive reliability environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends as needed to meet business demands.
  • Capable of handling multiple priorities simultaneously in a highstress environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal technical communication.
  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner
  • Current driver's license is preferable.
