Investment Services Private Markets
We manage deal structuring, due diligence and closing.

We provide financial operations to GIC's private equity, infrastructure, and real estate assets, as well as tax structuring, corporate holding structures, valuations, and financial reporting.


Tax
You will help to provide tax support to the GIC group and investments made by GIC. Our coverage includes enterprise tax, public markets, and private markets tax.


What impact can you make in this role?


You will be part of a team that provides investment services on private equity, real estate, infrastructure, and cross-strategy investments.


What will you do as a AVP, Direct Tax?
Reporting to the SVP, Enterprise Tax, the individual will predominantly support GIC's direct tax matters.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for GIC's direct tax matters. This includes (i) preparing/reviewing direct tax returns, (ii) managing tax audits/queries, (iii) articulating the tax risks and opportunities to the internal stakeholders, (iv) managing relationships with local tax authorities and tax advisors, and (v) assist in resolving service issues with advisors (if required);
  • Monitor changes in tax laws or administrative practice and analyse implications to GIC with effective communication to the relevant internal stakeholders;
  • Provide tax advisory support on Enterprise tax matters (focusing mainly on direct tax) to ensure tax risks and opportunities are well understood, monitor the quality of final technical advice/opinions, and tax ruling submissions;
  • Manage and coordinates Enterprise Tax's initiatives/ projects;
  • Actively participate in process improvements that create efficiencies and support the building of capabilities to meet business needs;
  • Support in the delivery of tax risk reporting to the Board, management committees, and various internal stakeholders;
  • Support the roll out of trainings within GIC to increase tax awareness and understanding of tax issues relevant to the GIC business where required;
  • Participate in the Tax team's technology initiatives to digitaize business processes and effectively leverage available technology tools; and
  • Build and maintain strong crossfunctional relationships within the Tax team and across other GIC departments.

What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?

  • At least 7 years of relevant tax experience, with relevant international tax experiences. Prior experience in a commercial setting preferred
  • An accounting/commerce degree with tax knowledge and/or holds the Chartered Accountant (CA) designation or comparable professional credentials
  • A strong team player who displays teamwork and collaboration
  • A strong communicator who is able to adapt communication styles based on the audience
  • Demonstrates strong writing, analytical and oral presentation skills
  • Has strong organizational skills and the ability to progress multiple assignments efficiently and independently
  • Has excellent attention to detail and consistently high levels of accuracy
  • Demonstrates personal initiative, strives to innovate and build best practices, but is highly attuned to the need for practical solutions
  • Demonstrates an ability to think broadly about tax information, think through problems strategically, assess a variety of factors, and recommend a pragmatic solution
  • Strong enduser computing skills and works well in digitalized environment
