SGX Summer Internship Programme (May to August 2023)

FICC Internship Programme

We have available roles in the following teams:

Business Management:


Business Management (BM) is part of Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC) business unit to drive the desired business growth from formulated strategy and business initiatives and develops business intelligence and insight to enhance our business value proposition.


Learning Objectives:

The selected intern will get hands-on exposure to and experience with:

  • Developing dashboards on critical business metrics for performance review
  • Endtoend automated reporting solutions and data structure that meets business requirements
  • Data analytics initiatives to create business intelligence and drive business outcome
  • Interacting across different business units and stakeholders to create presentation decks for business unit and subsidiary meetings
  • General understanding of Singapore Exchange, FICC and SGX FX business operation
  • Build and maintain various dashboards to monitor business performance such as volume, revenue, product yields and etc.
  • Support, enhance and develop analytics on order book, volume driven liquidity as well as pricing models for different products.
  • Research and development of quantitative trading ideas and strategies for commodity derivatives products.
  • Collect and analyse trade data for research reports, news articles and white papers
  • Assist with the content, layout and design of marketing materials (presentations, brochures, videos) to drive trading activity.
  • Organization of industry events this includes workshops, roundtables, seminars, forums and Singapore Iron Ore Week.
  • Conduct research on peer exchanges and clearing houses to understand their product / service offering with the goal of enhancing our offering.

Knowledge, Skills and Requirements:


  • MUST be proficient in at least one programming language (e.g., C, C++, Java, C#, Python, Groovy, Perl), SQL
  • MUST be proficient in MS Office i.e., excel and PowerPoint including VBA/Macros
  • Good attention to detail
  • Good to have any dashboarding development experience (Tableau, QlikView or Excel Power Pivot)
  • Good to have any financial quantitative knowledge
  • Experience with kdb+/Q will be beneficial
  • Good interpersonal & communication skills and the willingness and ability to work in a team
  • Be able to multitask, be process driven and the ability to think innovatively and independently and enjoy working under pressure and tight timelines

FX & Rates:


This unit has global responsibilities for the FX & Rates business lines, and this includes product development, marketing, and management.

It is actively involved in onboarding key strategic accounts across all geographies and driving the key sales plan to achieve strategic goals.


Learning Objectives:

The selected intern will help with various projects involving the FX & Rates business and operations


Examples will include:

  • Developing an indepth understanding of FX market microstructure, marketplace, and competitions
  • Data mining of the daily trading volume and open interests, mapping for crossselling opportunities
  • Regular weekly and monthly writeups of the FX market
  • Customer validation report for new and existing products
