Roles & ResponsibilitiesJob Purpose
Develop, manage, and control self-sufficient specialized teams in countries of responsibility
Sourcing or suitable personnel including department heads, customer research, business intelligence & strategy development
Generation of viable business opportunities in the Asia Pacific / global
Accountabilities
I) External Customer
DDAO Customer
Identify potential regional & global customers
Introduce personal customer contacts to DDAO network and build up mutual trust
Develop key customer relations in collaboration with M&S and Global Customer Solutions (GCS)
Undertake key leadership role in top level sales & product development initiatives to gain regional & global customers
Initiate strategic alliances with competitors when required deemed beneficial
II) Internal Customer
Vice President ASPA
Provide necessary cooperation and information on function business
Develop business strategy including strategic alliances and problem solutions across the board
Sourcing of Heads of Department through personal relationships for the various countries
Country Industrial Project
Provide leadership in the areas of product and business development, resource utilization, country organization structure and activities
Initiate, manage & control the development, implementation and localization of key initiatives and programmes
III) External Stakeholder
Carriers
Maintain & develop relations with global & regional carriers
Hauliers & other relevant service providers
Strengthen alliances & co-operations through personal relationships (multi-level)
Political Network strengthen relationship with government bodies & representatives (e.g., embassies, trade reps)
IV) Internal Stakeholder
DHL Network
Identify areas within the network where function can add value to existing group customers
Joint customer meetings on all levels
Share resources for maximization of same (e.g., manpower, carrier relationships, etc.)
Develop interest in function and share knowledge across the road
V) Process
Design, implement and manage the sub regional and ASPA strategic planning process for this function
- Design, implement standard operation as well as reporting procedures + process in the sub regions
Actively promote the exchange & ad of Best & Proven Practices within the IP organizations in ASPA to leverage collective learning & to improve consistency & productivity
VI) People Management
Determine organization structure, roles and responsibility and performance targets for the function
Develop a culture of quality, service excellence (for internal & external customers) within the functional departments based on flexibility, cost consciousness and speed
Plan, organize and direct and efficient and effective functional department
Develop IKOs/KPIs with team members and monitor individual performance
Conduct performance appraisal
Manage the allocation of appropriate resources and commitment of staff to the achievement of Global, Regional and Country objectives and targets
Identify training needs and opportunities to develop a highly skilled functional department
Education/Qualification Requirements
Bachelor's degree
10-15 years of experience in the field of project & heavy lift transportation from more than 1 perspective, e.g., freight forwarder and/or shipbroker and/or carrier and/or client
Work experience in the Asia Pacific region would be a distinct advantage
