Assistant Accounting Manager Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including:
- Accounts payable/receivable.
- Month and end-year process.
- Cash receipts.
- General ledger.
- Payroll and utilities.
- Treasury, budgeting.
- Cash forecasting.
- Revenue and expenditure variance analysis.
- Capital assets reconciliations.
- Fixed asset activity.
- Debt activity.
- Responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, and budget preparation.
- Preparation of business activity reports and financial forecasts.
- Prepare, review, and analyse financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
- Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Meet financial accounting objectives.
- Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.
- Responsible for tax planning throughout the fiscal year; files annual corporate tax returns.
- Evaluating, developing, and improving department controls, systems, and procedures that increase accuracy and efficiency.
- Analysing financial data and creating reports for management, stakeholders, and external parties, such as vendors or lenders.
- Set up and monitor accounting KPIs.
- Accomplishes accounting human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Responsible for preparing employment contracts and all other documentation work as assigned by the director.
- Confirms financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses.
- Maintains financial security by establishing internal controls.
- Preparing balance sheet.
- Preparing a budget report.
- Monitor monthend reports, schedules, payments and receipts.
- Maintain, update and monitor inventory records.
- Avoids legal challenges by understanding current and proposed legislation, enforcing accounting regulations, and recommending new procedures.
- Keeping informed about the latest developments in the finance industry.
- Ensure reconciliation of Bank accounts and other accounts.
- Protects the organisation's value by keeping information confidential.
- Create and monitor an effective internal audit system.
- Responsible for file company employee income records to IRAS.
- Maintains accounting controls by establishing a chart of accounts and defining accounting policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance of all accounting processes to that of the organisation's goals.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organisations.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the director.
Assistant Accounting Manager Requirements and skills
- Bachelor's or associate's degree in related fields is preferred.
- Proven working experience as an Accounting manager.
- Highly trained in conflict management and business negotiation processes.
- Proficiency with computerised financial systems, such as accounting programs(Tally etc.), databases, payment processing, excel spreadsheets, payroll services.
- Working knowledge of management software programs, including NetSuite, QuickBooks.
- Strong IT skills, including database development.
- Strong business sense and industry expertise.
