    The Role

    At Synthesis, we push the boundaries of what's possible with Open Data. It's a fast-paced, rapidly-changing environment at the intersection of data science, cultural analysis & brand consultancy. We call this Open Source Intelligence for brands.

    As a Software Engineer at Synthesis, you will help architect, build, and deploy internal and external applications, ranging from utility packages to large-scale distributed systems. This helps our data scientists & cultural strategists to deliver robust consumer insights and decision frameworks to marketing professionals. We work in a small, tight-knit software engineering team following an Agile process with a strong focus on peer reviewing, where you'll have the opportunity to learn and contribute immediately.     What you'll need.

    • A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in algorithms, data structures, object-oriented programming, software design principles, and distributed systems
    • Experience developing scalable web applications based on wireframes/ designs in Python, TypeScript, or NodeJS, with frameworks or libraries like FastAPI, Flask, Express, or NestJS.
    • Experience with relational databases and ORMs in application code. Working with PostgreSQL is a plus.
    • Experience with cloud providers such as Google Cloud or AWS.

    Nice to have.

    • Experience with containerization using Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
    • Experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is a plus.
