The Corporate Legal team provides legal advice to Partners Group and its internal stakeholders on a wide variety of matters and projects with a strong focus on enabling the business units while safeguarding our interests and reputation.


Partners Group is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel, with a specialization in data privacy, to support its Corporate Legal APAC counsels in Singapore.


What it's about


As Senior Legal Counsel in the Corporate Legal Business Unit, you will support the Corporate Legal APAC counsels in Singapore and work closely with the Global Data Privacy and Technology counsels (P&T counsels).

You will also work with diverse stakeholders throughout the company, and have a broad scope of responsibilities and plenty of opportunities to take ownership.

Based on your experience, interest and development within Partners Group, you will develop your own areas of responsibilities and grow with the team and the company.

The Corporate Legal team acts as legal partner to the Group and the stakeholders within the Group.

As Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide legal advice on a wide variety of legal matters and projects with a strong focus on enabling the business units whilst safeguarding the Group's interests and reputation.

Your internal clients will include various APAC business units such as Human Resources, Technology, Structuring, Finance and Office Management. You will also support the Group on a wide variety of projects of strategic importance.


Your Data Privacy & Technology responsibilities will include:

Data Privacy related matters

  • Identifying, managing and mitigating data privacy related risks and compliance with relevant data privacy laws in APAC
  • Evaluating the Group's existing data protection framework (which is General Data Protection Regulation "GDPR" based) against requirements under APAC data privacy laws and supporting regular updates to the framework documentation
  • Supporting the P&T counsels in developing our data protection approach and strategy, including ensuring that APAC data privacy concerns are addressed and implementing global data privacy initiatives in APAC
  • Together with the P&T counsels, design, implement and conduct data privacy training and awareness program
  • Act as a contact in APAC for members of staff, regulators and any relevant public bodies on issues related to data protection

General Corporate Legal matters

  • Supporting daytoday legal matters in APAC, such as providing legal advice to internal stakeholders, review, drafting and negotiation of a broad range of agreements
  • Providing daytoday legal advice and support on a variety of corporate and commercial law, data privacy law, intellectual property law, finance and financial services law and employment law matters
  • Supporting APAC Corporate Legal counsels in a number of global legal and organizational tasks and projects
  • Supporting investigation, prelitigation and litigation matters

What we expect

  • Law Degree from a reputable university and called to the bar in one of the APAC jurisdictions, with preference for Australia
  • 4 to 10 years of professional experience in an internationally orientated law firm or as an inhouse counsel in an international/regional financial services or technology firm on data privacy matters and general corporate matters
  • Robust knowledge in data privacy laws is required, particularly in Asia and Australia
  • Solid experience in contract drafting and corporate law
  • Excellent legal, analytical, drafting and negotiation skills, with ability to exercise judgment with high ethical standards
  • Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal and management skills, with proven ability to manage several simultaneous projects within required deadlines
  • Ability to work well independently as well as in crossfunctional teams and to build rapport and trust with internal clients and external clients and suppliers
  • Have a desire to work in a fastpaced environment
  • An inquisitive approach to practices and procedures
