What the role is

  • As an Engineer / Senior Engineer in the Coastal Protection Department, you will be part of a team to develop strategies and engineering designs for protecting the Singapore's coast against coastal flood risk due to rising sea level and more intense rainfall.

What you will be working on

  • Your job role will include, but is not limited to the following:
  • Preliminary Planning for engineering studies, including define scope, secure funding, engage stakeholders to incorporate their inputs and development plans and prepare tenders to carry out engineering studies.
  • Administrating engineering studies, including work with engineering consultants to ensure that engineering studies are carried out professionally to meet coastal protection requirements, engage stakeholders on the recommended coastal protection measures and drive delivery/schedule to ensure studies is completed in time and within budget
  • Administrating site investigations, surveys and/or construction contracts, including secure funding, prepare and call tenders (including evaluation and award) for construction work, partner engineering consultants to ensure works are carried out in compliance with the contract specifications and agencies' regulations and codes of practice, track projects' progress to ensure works are completed in time and within budget.

What we are looking for

  • Degree in Civil or Environmental or Coastal Engineering
  • Good knowledge of Singapore's coastal conditions, coastalrelated regulatory and planning frameworks as well as governing bodies for coastal related developments
  • Good knowledge of various coastal protection methods as well as numerical modelling of coastal processes
  • Good knowledge of coastal inundation risk assessment as well as decisionmaking processes such as costbenefit analysis and multicriteria decision analysis
  • Good knowledge of environmental impact assessments / studies, including environmental baseline surveys
  • Strong communication, analytical, writing and presentation skills
  • Selfmotivated and driven
  • Works well independently and also a good team player
