Roles & Responsibilities

Job Overview

The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with work, health and safety (WHS) guidelines in a workplace.

They play an important role in promoting a safe working environment by advising on safety measures, conducting risk assessments, and enforcing preventative measures.

The safety officer will also act as a Management Representative in all WSH and ISO related matters.

Responsibilities and Duties

· Represent management to review WSH implementation.

· Conduct safety inspection/audits to identify hazards and safety gaps at the workplace.

· Conduct/Review site incident investigation and able to identify root causes.

· Liaise with government agencies, insurance, auditors, and sites safety officers on safety related matters.

· Work with consultants to achieve WSH best practices recognition & ISO certification.

· Organize and establish the stakeholder's WSH Committee Meeting.

· Attend critical work planning meetings/review.

· Conduct regular staff & toolbox meetings to share best practice techniques.

· Regularly inspect equipment and work site.

· Review and advise on Risk Assessment (RA), Safe Work Procedures (SWPs) and any related QEHS documents.

· Assist in PTW submission.

· Act as Management Representative to ensure that the ISO (45001, 9001 & processes are established, implemented, and maintained.

· Dormitory Management: assist to manage dormitory related agreements, complete administration for workers checking in and out of dormitory, coordinate with dormitory operator to ensure maintenance, cleanliness and security of the dormitory.

Qualifications

· Registered Safety Officer/Coordinator with MOM

· Possess minimum WSH 'Level B' and WSH Officer Certificate

· Possess BizSafe Level 2 & 4.

· Possess WSQ Managing Work at Height Certificate.

· Qualified ISO Internal Auditor

· In-depth knowledge of ESH legislation, regulations, and best practices

· Excellent communication skills

· Construction knowledge and experience preferred.
