    Position overview

    MSCI ESG Research LLC., part of MSCI Inc, is looking for 6-month internship applicants in Singapore to help with the expanding ESG business and research demands in Greater China market. This role allows you to participate in the incorporation of sustainability themes into investment research, especially for the rapidly growing Chinese market.

    An ESG Research intern is expected to have a passion for sustainability investment topics, and should be fluent in both English and Mandarin. Over the course of the internship, the ESG Research intern, depending on their subject matter interests and background, will support ESG & Climate research projects and/or will be assigned one or two standalone research projects. Some examples are:

    · Global ESG & Climate regulatory trends

    · Sector or industry-level ESG & Climate trends

    · Greater China ESG & Climate trends

    Your key responsibilities

    · Provide research support to senior analysts. Some examples are:

    · Data collection and analysis, by working with many different types of data sources (i.e. annual reports, websites, quantitative data feeds, etc.), types of information (i.e. quantitative data, key performance indicators, prose narratives), topics or subject matters (i.e. traditional financial risk, corporate governance, and sustainability) and types of analysis (i.e. rules-based, subjective analysis, written summaries).

    · Assist ESG ratings model review

    · Prepared materials that tailored for local audiences (English/Chinese translations needed)

    · Present research findings to the relevant internal/external stakeholders

    · (Depending on the applicants' subject matter interests, background and performance), will support ESG & Climate research projects and/or will be assigned one or two standalone research projects.

    Specific knowledge and skills

    · Strong awareness of sustainability and climate trends/issues;

    · Ability to multi-task;

    · Can efficiently communicate/present research findings to internal/external stakeholders;

    · Can work under the pressure of deadlines and deliver work on time.

    · Efficient team player who communicates effectively and who can also work independently without constant supervision.

    Desired experience

    · Advanced degree in economics or sustainability-related field (masters or PhD) is preferred but not required;

    · Strong background in data science and modeling are preferred but not required;

    · Previous internship experience in the sustainability field is preferred but not required. E.g.:

    · Experience in sustainability/ESG Research or corporate social responsibility, or

    · Relevant financial services experience that includes exposure to ESG investment, or

    · Relevant public policy or academic or NGO experience

    Desired qualifications

    · Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese

    · Must be able to commit to a minimum of 3 days per week.
