WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?:


The Quality Inspector uses state-of-the-art tools and techniques to ensure that product conforms to applicable manufacturer's specifications and our customers' requirements.

This position focuses on objective and instrumented tests that generate data for evaluation.


_Core Responsibilities and Functions:
_

  • Perform quality inspection on electronic components and related products
  • Use advanced equipment and inspection methodology to confirm whether product meets customer requirements
  • Record inspection results and evidence in Velocity's ERP
  • Take and prepare photo documentation
  • Coordinate with the Quality Managers to ensure that all requested tests are performed
  • Communicate and explain inspection findings to the Quality Managers and, occasionally, the Sales, Purchasing and Logistics.

_Required skills & experience:
_

  • Understanding of basic math, including percentages and tolerances
  • Familiar with complex ERP systems

_Preferred skills & experience:
_

  • 2 or 4year college degree
  • Experience handling electronic components and/or inspection/quality assurance
  • Familiar with complex ERP systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Basic photography and photo editing

_Work Environment _
This position works in Velocity's Inspection and Distribution Center, a hybrid laboratory/warehouse environment. Most work is performed in an Electrostatic Protected Area (EPA).

  • Personnel must wear protective smocks and grounding footwear inside the EPA
  • Traffic through the IDC includes electric lift trucks
  • Some inspections include:
  • Xray equipment
  • Hot surfaces
  • Solvents
  • Some products contain small amounts of toxic materials (e.g. leadbased solder)

_Physical Requirements _

  • Close vision
  • Color discrimination
  • Manual dexterity: manipulation of very small items
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
