[What the role is]
By joining the Arthropod Ecology Section, your role will actively participate in research activities, including mosquito surveillance, identification and maintenance of mosquito colonies.
Your role will also support routine work activities such as receiving arthropod samples from stakeholders, recording data, preparation of research materials, and ensuring the upkeep of the insectary facilities.
[What we are looking for]
Requirements:
- Able to express oneself clearly and concisely
- Able to converse, read and write in English
- Computer literate and able to use basic computer tools (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data recording
- Comfortable in handling mosquitoes and other insects for rearing and maintenance
- Able to follow SOP and adhere to routine work
- Able to meet and deal with external partners in a courteous, confident, and tactful manner
- Able to work independently or as part of a team with strong problemsolving capability
- Able to handle and/or receive samples that are sensitive in nature
- Able to demonstrate attention to details in work
- Good eyehand coordination necessary for microscopy work
- Possess a positive attitude to learn new techniques and tools in line with work
- Willing to work staggered hours and after officehours including weekends and public holidays as need arises
- Possesses a valid class 3 licence and willingness to drive NEA's vehicle to field sites is preferred
