    Roles & Responsibilities

    Project:

    As the Director, you will lead our engineering organization in delivering high-quality, innovative technical solutions aligned with the strategic goals of the company. From defining the technology roadmap to managing projects and cultivating high-performing teams, you will oversee all aspects of the engineering function.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Strategic Leadership:
      • Define and execute the technology roadmap in alignment with company objectives, making high-level technical and architectural decisions to ensure reliability, scalability, and extensibility of our software.
    2. Engineering Philosophy and Framework:
      • Develop and adopt an engineering philosophy and framework for development and deployment decision-making, translating business direction into actionable technical items.
    3. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
      • Advise management and other functions on how technology can support their needs, advocating for reasoned approaches based on first principles in problem-solving.
    4. Resource Planning and Forecasting:
      • Plan and forecast resources to support company growth, devising strategies to optimize resource allocation and project management.
    5. Team Leadership and Development:
      • Lead and support team growth, setting up best practices and guidelines, fostering team learning, and facilitating team building initiatives.
    6. Technical Decision-Making:
      • Involve team members in the technical decision-making process, reviewing technical decisions made by team members, and championing root-cause solutions following a disciplined approach.
    7. Collaboration and Advocacy:
      • Collaborate with other teams to develop and deliver root-cause solutions, advocating reasoning from first principles across the company and assisting other teams in adopting this approach in problem-solving.
    8. Budgeting and Management:
      • Manage engineering budgeting, daily operations, project allocation, assignment, review, and project management activities.
    9. Team Building and Talent Management:
      • Oversee hiring and firing processes, ensuring the recruitment of top engineering talent and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration within the team.

    Deliverables:

    • Plan and forecast resources to support company growth, devising strategies to optimize resource allocation and project management.
    • Involve team members in technical decision-making processes, review technical decisions made by team members, and champion root-cause solutions following a disciplined approach.
    • Collaborate with other teams to develop and deliver root-cause solutions, advocating reasoning from first principles across the company and assisting other teams in adopting this approach in problem-solving.
