The Role


We are embarking on a major project to implement an operational office in China and need an experienced Project Manager with technology background to join the existing project team to lead the project to a successful conclusion.

As Technology Project Manager you will provide the planning, management, oversight and communications for the project.

You will also be expected to act as the bridge between our Business Units and Technology teams, ensuring and sometimes challenging system requirements to both Business Users and Technology teams so that these can be supported appropriately and understand system capabilities and limitations sufficiently to advise and guide business stakeholders in their quest to offer innovative solutions for our customers.


You will work alongside our broad and multi-location Business and Technology Delivery teams including Technical and Business Systems Analysts, Platforms, Infrastructure, Data, PMO and ISO and where appropriate Actuarial Systems, Finance, Operations, Pricing and other teams to develop and manage the project plan and timelines.


There will also be the opportunity to help influence and shape our delivery ways of working and advance our collective portfolio, programme and project management community.


Description

  • Manages one or more projects that may be complex, largescale and/or highrisk that involve multiple senior internal and external stakeholders using appropriate methodologies and toolsets.
  • Partners with project sponsors / stakeholders to define project scope, priorities, timelines, milestones, deadlines, plans, RAID, resource plans and deliverable schedules.
  • Assists with the analysis of, drawing up and gaining agreement of business and technical requirements
  • Anticipates issues and delays and evaluates tradeoffs between project size, complexity, cost, risk, etc., effectively assessing and resolving highpriority project risks.
  • Works with team to develop activities and assign to resources, supervises work and ensures adherence to established quality and risk management standards and methodologies. Escalating issues as appropriate along with proposals for resolution
  • Facilitates discussions and consensus among various project stakeholders, including the facilitation of the Project Steering Committee.
  • Coordinating work with team. Eliciting clear progress updates with transparency and realism regarding risks and issues. Monitoring and reporting on project status.
  • Manages and monitors the project budget and expenditures
  • Ensures all projects adhere the business' standards for project methodology, governance, reporting and risk management.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Demonstrable record of delivery within medium to large organisations
  • Comfortable working in variety of delivery methods Waterfall, Agile & Hybrid styles
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Data & analytical expertise, ability to elicit and agree requirements
  • Demonstrable experience in articulating business requirements coherently to technology teams
  • Track record of bridging between business needs / requirements and system capabilities / limitations
  • Expert planning, control and monitoring skills
  • Solid understanding of the importance of and adherence to Risk Management standards
  • Strong communication skills with the gravitas to interact at Senior Leadership levels
  • Significant experience in leading project teams and stakeholder management
  • Extensive experience managing and partnering with multiple 3rd party vendors
  • Strong understanding of project and programme methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2, APM)
  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent relevant industry experience
  • Project and Programme Management experience of at least 10 years
  • Knowledge and experience of using PPM solutions; PPO, Jira, MS 36
  • Any experience and knowledge of the Insurance or Reinsurance markets would be an advantage
