[What the role is]


You will work with a team of officers in the Radiation Monitoring and Modelling Branch, under the Radiation Monitoring & Services Division, to perform radiological dispersion modelling to support incident preparedness and response operations, as well as maintain a network of ambient radiation monitoring sensors.

[What you will be working on]

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Design and simulate scenarios, and operate dispersion modelling systems for both the air and water environment
  • Work with relevant stakeholders and be involved in managing projects on development of modelling systems to suit Singapore's needs. This includes understanding model algorithms, and assessing merits of various models used in other countries
  • Collaborate with local/overseas institutes to carry out research and development work to enhance atmospheric and hydrological modelling capability
  • Engage and work closely with relevant stakeholders to formulate a framework and strategy for radiological impact assessment for Singapore.
  • Support the maintenance and operations of an ambient radiation monitoring network, including troubleshooting of network and equipment faults and the development of a predictive maintenance regime to increase the efficiency of operations
  • Support development work in radiological dose and environmental impact assessment
  • Manage vendors / contractors for the development of radiological dispersion modelling system and maintenance of sensor network to ensure alignment in system integration and operability
  • Participate in interdisciplinary and regional projects as required
[What we are looking for]
The job might be for you if you possess the following qualities,

  • Degree in Science, Engineering, Engineering Science or Technology
  • At least 2 years of experience in plume dispersion modelling and impact assessment in the air and/or water environment will be an advantage
  • Keen interest in environmental monitoring and management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Innovative and enjoy working across different teams
  • Able to work efficiently under tight deadlines, adaptive to changes and possess a positive work attitude
  • Highly motivated, meticulous, and takes initiative
