- Providing support for students both academically and personally where necessary.
- Respecting students and treating them with dignity in the learning environment.
- Preparing lessons in advance with the needs of learners in mind.
- Designing activities to achieve the learning goals of the students.
- Teach and mentor students as a class, in small groups, and one-on-one
- Assess students' skills to determine their needs and to develop teaching plans
- Adapt lessons to meet the needs of students
- Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student
- Plan, organize, and assign activities that are specific to each student's abilities
- Implement IEPs, assess students' performance, and track their progress
- Update IEPs throughout the school year to reflect students' progress and goals
- Discuss student's progress with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators
- Supervise and mentor teacher assistants who work with students with disabilities
- Provide written reports on a half yearly basis and a short update on the communication app weekly
- Participate in team meetings relating to client needs and goals
- A Diplomo or bachelor's degree in early childhood education or special education.
- Possess Specialist Diploma in Early Childhood Learning Support (SDELS) specifically from NIEC would be advantageous.
- Previous experience working with students with special needs. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years experience as a Learning Support Educator in the DSLS programme
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
