    Purchasing Director – Asia

    Location: Asia (China / Hong Kong / Singapore / wider APAC)

    Employment Type: Full-time

    Role Overview – A Strategic Procurement Leader

    This is not a transactional purchasing role.

    This is a senior, commercially driven leadership appointment for a strategic operator who understands the realities of Independent Distribution, margin management, and high-value inventory acquisition in volatile semiconductor markets.

    You will lead and execute the Asia purchasing strategy — navigating complex supply chains, securing competitive inventory, strengthening supplier partnerships, and ensuring resilient access to product across fast-moving global markets.

    A true market-facing "hunter" with executive-level influence.

    Key Responsibilities

    Strategic Sourcing Leadership

    • Define and execute the Asia procurement strategy aligned to global revenue objectives
    • Drive competitive sourcing across Independent and broker markets

    Supplier & Trading Network Development

    • Develop and strengthen relationships across China and wider APAC supplier networks
    • Engage with brokers, traders, OEM excess channels, and regional stockists

    Commercial & Contract Negotiation

    • Lead high-value purchasing negotiations and pricing strategy
    • Structure advantageous trading agreements and inventory positions

    Market Intelligence & Risk Mitigation

    • Monitor semiconductor shortages, lifecycle risks (EOL/NRND), and pricing volatility
    • Conduct supply risk analysis and supplier verification processes

    Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Partner with Global Sales on demand alignment, BOM analysis, and margin optimisation
    • Work closely with Operations to maximise inventory turnover and reduce exposure

    Leadership & Capability Building

    • Mentor and develop regional purchasing teams
    • Strengthen quality assurance and compliance processes across sourcing channels

    Requirements

    • Proven senior leadership experience within an Electronic Component Distributor or Independent Broker
    • Strong Asia-based sourcing background, particularly within China supply chains
    • Deep understanding of Independent vs. Franchised distribution dynamics
    • Established supplier network across APAC highly advantageous
    • Demonstrated success managing high-value inventory acquisition in margin-driven environments
    • Strong negotiation capability with commercial and strategic acumen

    Hard Commodity Exposure Highly Valued:

    • Semiconductors
    • Memory (DRAM / NAND)
    • CPUs / Microprocessors
    • SSD / Storage
    • Analog & Power Management ICs
    • Obsolete / EOL Components
